Treatment Description:
Removing filler from areas such as the lips or facial contours is most often performed when the filler procedure was done incorrectly or the result is unsatisfactory. If the hyaluronic acid was injected too superficially, in excessive amounts, has migrated, or lumps are palpable, the filler should be removed as soon as possible.
The procedure is safe – hyaluronidase is an enzyme that dissolves hyaluronic acid, is fully eliminated from the body, and does not affect other chemical reactions. The enzyme is injected with a fine needle into the area where the filler was previously placed, gradually dissolving and absorbing the product. The first effects can be seen within a few minutes, but complete dissolution of the filler may take a few days. Sometimes the procedure needs to be repeated if a large amount of filler was injected. After the procedure, slight swelling or bruising may occur at the injection site. Before the first filler removal, it is recommended to perform blood tests for antibodies to rule out an allergy to hyaluronidase. If you are allergic to hymenoptera venom (e.g., bee or wasp stings), please inform me! This is an important contraindication!
